Kisspeptin-10 is a ten amino acid peptide. It is the active piece of a longer peptide called kisspeptin-54. It binds a receptor named KISS1R. Studies have measured what happens in the hypothalamus after it binds, and how that signal moves down the reproductive hormone axis. Its discovery changed how the field understood where that signal begins.

Kisspeptin-10 is the shortest active fragment of the KISS1 gene product and binds KISS1R (GPR54) on hypothalamic GnRH neurons - the most potent known endogenous trigger of GnRH neuron activity.

Kisspeptin-10 (KP-10) is a synthetic decapeptide corresponding to the C-terminal active fragment of the kisspeptin family encoded by the KISS1 gene. It is a high-affinity agonist of the KISS1R (GPR54) receptor.
Kisspeptin-54 is the longer parent peptide; Kisspeptin-10 retains the C-terminal decapeptide that carries full receptor activity, with a shorter sequence and faster in-vivo clearance.
It is the G-protein-coupled receptor for kisspeptins, expressed on GnRH neurons; its activation is essential for normal reproductive-axis function.
