Why sequence order matters in peptide identity
A sequence is ordered information. Rearranging the same residues can describe a different peptide even when the element counts are unchanged. A comparison that checks only formula or sequence length can therefore miss a meaningful identity difference.

When matching a catalog entry to a reference, compare the sequence in the stated direction and retain terminal annotations. If one source gives only an abbreviation, seek the explicit sequence rather than treating a similar name as a complete match.
