Why a counterion is not part of the amino acid sequence

A counterion is associated with the charged material and is not another amino acid in its sequence. A complete material description may need both fields, but they should not be combined into a single residue list.

For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

When preparing a comparison, separate peptide identity from salt-form information. A counterion measurement, if supplied, is also distinct from the mere statement that a salt form was intended.
