Cross-checking a catalog identity against its reference
A catalog identity check compares the name, sequence, modifications and represented form with a suitable reference. Agreement in one field is helpful but does not excuse a conflict in another.
For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Record the source used for each corrected field. A reproducible check makes it clear whether a difference was a typographical error, a different convention or a genuinely different entity. Leave unresolved details out of definitive tables.
Reading checklist
- Compare several identity fields
- Record the source of corrections
- Flag unresolved differences
Reference: CAS identifiers for research compounds.
