CAS identifiers for research compounds
A CAS Registry Number identifies a substance in the CAS registry. It is an identity reference, not a measurement of purity, a certificate identifier or a statement that a supplier tested its material.
For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
If an identifier conflicts with a name, check the intended substance form and source. Do not select whichever identifier produces the most search results. Record unresolved differences so later readers can distinguish verified identity data from a catalog transcription.
What to retain in a research record
- Substance form represented
- Identifier source
- Any unresolved name mismatch
