Why a CAS identifier is not a quality score

A CAS identifier helps distinguish a substance. It does not show that a particular sample was tested, meets a specification or has a particular purity.

For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

Keep substance identification and sample documentation in separate parts of a record. A CAS entry can help resolve a name; a certificate supplies the analytical observations for the material it describes. One should not be presented as proof of the other.
