Peptide molecular weight
Molecular-weight information is meaningful only when the chemical form and mass convention are clear. A sequence length is not enough to calculate a complete value if modifications or terminal groups are unspecified.
For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
A catalog may display a molar mass with units such as g/mol, while a spectrum labels ions by m/z. Those fields should not be compared as if they were the same measurement. Keep the quantity name and units with the value.
What to retain in a research record
- Mass convention and quantity name
- Units as stated
- Chemical form and modifications
