Limit of detection

A detection limit characterizes the ability of a method to distinguish an analyte signal under specified conditions. A result below a limit is not equivalent to proof that the analyte is absent.

For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

Keep the limit and units with the result. Distinguish a below-limit observation from a field that was never reported. Neither should be silently converted to zero when preparing an archive summary.
