Disulfide bonds in peptide identity
A disulfide bond connects sulfur-containing groups. For a peptide with multiple possible connections, identifying which residues are connected is part of describing the structure.
For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
A residue list and a total sulfur count do not fully specify connectivity. Preserve a source-provided connection map and distinguish the intended structure from what a particular analytical method actually established.
What to retain in a research record
- Connected residue positions
- Number of disulfide connections
- Evidence supporting connectivity
