Report identifiers and product names answer different questions
A product name identifies a catalog item; a report identifier identifies a laboratory document. Several reports can concern the same product, and a product name alone is usually insufficient to distinguish those documents.
For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Start a document record with its source URL, issuing laboratory and report identifier as supplied. Keep the product association as a separate field. This makes it possible to correct a catalog name without losing the connection to the underlying certificate.
Reading checklist
- Separate product and document identifiers
- Retain the issuing laboratory
- Keep a source link for each record
Reference: Certificate report identifiers.
